I am a mother of one little boy named Jared. I decided to open up my home to other families in the community because I felt that not only did I want to be at home with my own son, but I also felt that I could provide top quality care to other families who need childcare.
I have a background in childcare. I attended Grant MacEwan's Early Childhood Development Program and I have also taken courses from the University of Alberta in Child Psychology and Child Language Acquisition.
In addition to the field placements I did in the ECD program, I worked in childcare for seven years before my son was born. I have filled many roles: child care worker, kindergarten programmer, and after school care programmer. When my maternity leave ended, I started working at Child Development Dayhomes as the Childcare Consultant for the west end of the city.
This has really given me a good perspective of the challenges that working parents face. Knowing that my son was in an excellent dayhome gave me such peace of mind. Now I hope to provide that same peace of mind to other parents in my community.
