What does Licensed childcare mean?

I am a self-employed contracted Dayhome Provider through Child Development Dayhomes of Alberta. When searching for childcare words like qualified, experienced and licensed are used as if they are interchangeable. As a licensed Dayhome Provider I have gone through a screening process with Child Development Dayhomes. This includes:

So what is the difference if the Provider has done these things on her own?

As a licensed Dayhome Provider, my home is monitored through monthly unannounced visits done in my home. In addition, safety checks are done on the home 3 to 4 times a year to insure that all government standards are met. This process ensures that the quality of care is consistent and provides additional peace of mind to parents.

My consultant does ongoing training and goal setting with me to ensure that my skills remain sharp. I am also able to attend workshops and conferences on child related topics.

Parents may also qualify for subsidy in my home because I am licensed. Please follow the link for more information on receiving subsidy approval.

I am very proud to provide a valuable service to children and families and consider myself a professional. As such I am part of a professional childcare agency.
