When you are taking care of children there really is no such thing as a “typical” day. Children have a wonderful way of surprising you and I adapt my routines to their needs and interests. I have found that following the children's natural interests and curiosity leads to wonderful 'teaching moments'. So the days at my dayhome do not follow a strict routine.

However, routines are important in establishing a feeling of security. This guideline will give you an idea of how your child’s day will be spent. There are many opportunities for flexibility in this framework. I will offer a balance between activities and time for free play and exploration.

I use the television very rarely. I find that there are so many other fun and exciting ways to spend our days. I would rather make crafts and sing songs with the children then watch someone else do that with children on TV. There may be a few special times that we watch a children's program.
